Simon has 15 years of experience in wastes and environmental management, key areas of expertise are in waste policy, legislation, research, strategy, regulation and education. He is also a member of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Wastes Management.
Simon was awarded an Honours Degree in Geography from the University of Aberdeen in 1995. In 1999 he was awarded a Masters Degree in Wastes Management from the University of Sunderland and the prestigious James Sumner Award from the UK Chartered Institute of Wastes Management. He has experience in the UK, US, Canada, Jamiaca, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Philipinnes, Singapore. He has worked on projects at all levels, from local authorities to international development projects. He is a Chartered Waste Manager, Chartered Environmentalist, Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society, Member of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and On Line Member of the International Solid Waste Association.
